I know I have been pretty MIA on my blog lately, but I have been having a blast in San Diego! I have been working with Delta Eta Chapter at SDSU for the last four weeks and have really enjoyed it. In addition to working with the officer team, providing leadership training, assisting with chapter operations/event planning and getting to know the members, I have had time for a lot of fun activities while I’ve been here. Earlier in the semester, I was able to go kayaking in La Jolla for the chapter’s new member retreat, and this visit I was able to go to the beach several times, meet up with some friends from college, go cliff jumping, paddle boarding, and even to my first college football game! SDSU’s Homecoming game was at Qualcomm Stadium two weeks ago, which was quite the experience!
While I was in town, I was able to meet a few other Leadership Consultants from other organizations: two PIKE Expansion Consultants who started a new chapter at SDSU, a Theta Chi Consultant, and another from Gamma Phi Beta. It was really fun to get to know them and hear all about their traveling experiences this year. I feel so lucky to have been in San Diego for the last few weeks, while most of the other LCs are in the snow in other parts of the country. The chapter apartment with my own space is also a plus! Before I leave to go to Indianapolis for our semester debrief with the entire Fraternity Services Team, I was able to go on a hike this morning with one of my friends, Taylor, which was really fun. We hiked all the way to the top of Cowles Mountain, at 1,695 feet! Afterwards, we rewarded ourselves with some amazing acai bowls. It doesn’t get any better than good friends, sunshine, and fresh fruit! I am so excited to see the other Alpha Gam Leadership Cosultants and everyone else on the team tomorrow, though I am feeling a little underprepared going to Indianapolis in November without a coat! Before I know it, I will be back in Irvine for Thanksgiving next week. I can’t wait to see my family and also change out the clothes I have been wearing all semester! You’d be surprised how tired of wearing the same things over and over again you get when you live out of a suitcase. Time to get packing before I go to the chapter’s fundraiser at Bruxie tonight, followed by their championship intramural soccer game and a 6:00 a.m. flight to Indy tomorrow! I have posted some pictures from the last few weeks in San Diego:
