USC Visit!

My first week and a half at USC was awesome! After helping facilitate the Regional Leadership Training two weeks ago, I met with all of the officers at Delta Alpha (USC Chapter) and got to know many of the members. I don’t know what it is about USC, but I met some of the most incredible people I have ever met in our chapter there. Almost every member I talked to had an international background: they were either born in/from another country, lived outside the U.S., or has family in other countries. Australia, England, Malaysia, China, Hungary, South Korea, Switzerland, France… just to name a few. One member is a U.S. Army veteran and is currently in ROTC while serving on Executive Council in Alpha Gam, another worked for a professional dance company right out of high school, and several members studied abroad their very first semester of college, then came to USC as spring admits. Pretty unbelievable! I am truly inspired by these women and I can’t wait to continue working with them for the next three semesters!

I drove down to SDSU last night and will be spending the next week here helping with their spring recruitment and meeting with the officers. It is great to see them all again! On my way down, I was able to stop at home in Orange County to have dinner with my family, which was great! I feel so lucky to be spending my winter months in Southern California/Arizona and be close to home. I will never get tired of the sunshine 🙂

Here are some pictures from my first visit to USC:

Brunch at the Alpha Gam house at USC is not taken lightly! They had a chocolate fondue fountain, a Belgian waffle station, and basically everything you could ever want for brunch. It was awesome!

I got a chance to explore the campus and “The Row” while I was at USC, which is quite a sight. Unfortunately, I didn’t see Patrick Schwarzenegger or his girlfriend Miley Cyrus across the street at the Lambda Chi house, but I did get to try the infamous Lemonade restaurant on campus and grab an acai bowl at the AmazeBowls food truck!

Though I am from Southern California originally, I haven’t really gotten a chance to explore L.A., so I went with some (25!) of the Alpha Gams at USC on a hike to see the Hollywood sign! It was a beautiful 80 degrees outside and we had a blast. They are a really active group of women!

Samantha, who is a volunteer for Alpha Gam, flew out from Nashville to assist with Officer Training last weekend. She had not been to L.A. before, so of course we had to explore the area. We went to SUR, a restaurant in West Hollywood, owned by Lisa Vanderpump (one of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) because she is a huge fan of the show that is filmed there, “Vanderpump Rules”. I personally have not seen the show, but we saw five people working there who are apparently famous!

Another L.A. must-see is Rodeo Drive! We stopped by to walk around, but we were limited to window shopping since we got there later in the evening. Darn— I was really planning on making some purchases there. 😉 We had a great time and I hope to get a chance to explore L.A. more during my time there!

All is well in San Diego! I will be heading back to USC next Friday, then I will make a visit to Arizona State University a few days later. Can’t wait!
